The Rochester Chess Club has announced Rochester's biggest chess tourney since the 1958 Chess Open. The Kings and Queens (and their entourages) will hit town Saturday and Sunday, July 9 and 10, 2022.
Did you watch (or better, read) The Queen's Gambit? This is your chance to live out that dream, only you don't need to come from an orphanage or go to the bathroom to think it thru. Well, you can, but you don't have to.
The 2022 Rochester Chess Open will be at the Mayo Civic Center. This United States Chess Federation-rated event is expected to draw 100 or so players, including some of the top chess masters from Minnesota and across the Midwest competing for $3,000 in prizes.

The club meets on most Tuesdays in the Mayo Clinic Harwick Building, South Cafeteria, 201 3rd Avenue SW, Rochester, MN. Park for free on the street after 5 PM weekdays/all day on weekends or in a nearby parking ramp. Participants must be free of COVID symptoms and wear a mask. If you have not already done so, please get vaccinated for the safety of all.
