LCC Group Tyrone SFC Round One

Greencastle 0-12 Donaghmore 0-16 (after extra-time)

Donaghmore got the job done in extra-time as they edged out senior new boys Greencastle at O’Neills Healy Park to advance to the quarter-finals of the LCC Group Tyrone SFC.

They trailed for much of the game, but finished strongly to seal the contest late on as their opponents' challenge faded in added time.

A couple of Mark Carson frees helped Greencastle to a 0-3 to 0-1 lead, before Tiarnan Drayne brought the sides level on 10 minutes.

Both sides dropped extra men back to frustrate the opposition, but it was Greencastle who displayed clever movement to prise the openings for Sean Warnock and John McCullagh to restore their two-point advantage.

Niall McKenna landed a long-range effort for Donaghmore, but soon they were three behind as Carson converted his third free, before a Conor Cush mark narrowed the gap, Greencastle ahead by 0-7 to 0-5 at the interval.

Carson restored the three-point cushion, but two Cormac McCann frees and a Ryan Cush effort had the sides level again.

Defences stood firm on both sides as a lengthy scoreless stalemate developed, with neither side able to find a lead point, until John McCullagh won a free that substitute Cahir McCullagh converted in stoppage time for his side’s first point in 27 minutes.

It looked like the winner, but there was still time for Conor Cush to tie it up at 0-10 each with an equalising free.

Conor Cush gave Donaghmore the lead for the first time in extra-time, and at the turnaround they led by 0-13 to 0-11.

John McCullagh and Ronan Donnelly traded points, and helped by a rash of Greencastle wides and late points from Tom Grimes and Conor Cush, Donaghmore made it through.
