It was the worst school shooting since the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012 that occurred at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday afternoon.

There were 21 souls whose lives were taken in a terrible act of gun violence.

This tragic, most recent shooting incident has brought on a renewed push for change to gun laws and background checks in this country.

In New Jersey, Governor Phil Murphy came out this week and called on Senate Majority Leader Nick Scutari and Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin to put all gun related bills -- pro and anti -- on the table and up for a vote all at once to not only have them voted on and direct change but also it was his effort to expose all those who favor current gun laws or want them loosened.

Schools across New Jersey have had an added police presence this week as well, not that any credible threat loomed for any school shootings here but law enforcement was on alert for any copycat incidents and under a directive from New Jersey State Attorney General Matthew Platkin, were asked to have an added presence at schools to ensure the safety of all students, faculty, staff and everyone inside the school building.

There were many other news stories on happenings across New Jersey this week as well.
